The purpose of this web site is to present observations on topics that have been of special interest to the Waisbren Clinic.

Here we will present innovative perspectives on Chronic Lyme disease, the Chronic Fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Masked Hypothyroidism. We also present our work in the field of Immunotherapy for Cancer with Coley's vaccine and the Hepatitis B vaccination and related complications.

Much of this website has been presented in more detail in my books Adventures in the Practice of Investigative Internal Medicine, and The Hepatitis B Vaccination program in the United States-Lessons for the Future. They are available through Amazon.com and Trafford Publishers and Barnes and Noble.

Chronic Lyme Disease - management, controversies, three illustrative case reports, hypothesis and suggestions that ALS and MS occuring in patients from "tic" countries should be treated for Lyme Disease because of the possibility that their syndromes are caused by Borrelia, the organism that causes Lyme Disease.

Lyme Disease Treatment and Research Center being established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin It will be dedicated to the treatment of not only chronic Lyme disease, but diseases that theoretically may respond to the antibiotic treatments recommended for Lyme disease. These diseases include ALS and MS, and others where it is reasonable to assume patients have had exposure to tics. For more information about the Lyme Disease Treatment and Research Center please click here. To request a brochure about the research center please contact the Waisbren Clinic.

The Management of Chronic Lyme disease

Three Anecdotal Case Reports Regarding Chronic Lyme Disease with a Hypothesis That Might Explain How They Came About

Treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Multiple Sclerosis with Anti-Lyme Disease Antibiotics with Antibiotics

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia
We have become involved in trying to help patients with these diseases. Many of these patients have been told there is nothing to do. We have devised a program that has shown some success in treating these patients.

Hypothyroidism
A development in our clinic is the appearance of a group of patients with "masked hypothyroidism". These patients usually have a family history of thyroid dysfunction and often present with symptoms of severe fatigue as well as other stigmata of hypothyroidism. They often have normal TSH levels and elevated thyroid autoantibodies. This makes it necessary to adjust their thyroid medication based on a clinical response. We try to normalize both T3 and T4. To accomplish this, we use drugs such as Synthroid (T4), Cytomel (T3), Thyrolar (T3 and T4) and Armour Thyroid (T3 and T4).

Hepatitis B Vaccine-Actual and Potential Dangers We present the argument and pertinent literature that suggests that the government program of universal hepatitis B vaccination should be modified. We have included a list of 198 peer reviewed articles that report untoward results that followed hepatitis B vaccination.

Immunotherapy for Cancer
Since 1972, we have used "Coley's Toxins", Mixed Bacterial Vaccine, Transfer Factor, BCG, and Lymphoblastoid Lymphocytes to treat over 200 patients.
